Use of greyspacestories.com, including all materials presented, is subject to this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy covers our treatment of personally identifiable information that site users voluntarily provide, but not to the practices of companies we don’t own or control. This site does not solicit personal information from visitors or story submissions. In certain cases, I may share some information (IP address) with third parties, described in more detail below. By using the Site or Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy, without modification, and acknowledge its terms.

What and when we collect

Greyspacestories.com only collects personal information that you voluntarily provide, which may include:

  • Personal stories
  • Personal information voluntarily provided in the story submission
  • IP address

How do we use your information?

This information may be used in the following ways:

  • Stories submitted on the “Submit a Story” page will be posted so site visitors may read them.
    • Stories will be reviewed for personally identifiable information and edited to remove this information
  • Tracking the IP address of visitors allows me to improve site content and features.

Data Security

The site provider, WordPress, uses SSL to protect any information you enter into the site. I maintain security measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure (primarily, by encouraging people NOT to submit any personal information at all). You agree that I am not responsible for any intercepted information shared through this Site without my knowledge or permission. Additionally, you release me from any and all claims arising out of or related to the use of such intercepted information in any unauthorized manner.

Do we use ‘cookies’?

Yes. The site uses cookies to compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that I can offer a better site experience. I may also use trusted third-party services that track this information (e.g. Google Analytics).

Third-party disclosure

This site carries a Creative Commons license that allows others to repurpose and distribute these stories with appropriate attribution to Grey_Space.

I will not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your IP address to outside parties. This does not include website hosting partners and other parties who assist in operating the website so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. I may also release IP information when its release is necessary to comply with law enforcement.

If you would like to take extra steps to protect your identity when submitting a story, you can visit the site through an anonymous proxy server or VPN software and services to mask your IP address.

Third-party links

I may mention third-party information resources or services on the site. These third-party sites (e.g. Google Analytics and Squarespace) have separate and independent privacy policies that I encourage you to check out to understand your data use.

Site Analytics

I may record information regarding user site activity using Squarespace metrics or Google Analytics. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt Out Browser add on.

How does our site handle Do Not Track signals?

Our site software, Squarespace, does not currently support recognition of the Do Not Track protocol. Site users should expect data regarding their visit (e.g. IP address) is collected and used in aggregate data analytics.

Does our site allow third-party behavioral tracking?

I do not allow third-party behavioral tracking.

COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)

I do not market to children under the age of 13 years old. To access or use greyspacestories.com, you must be 18 years old or older and have the requisite power and authority to enter into this Privacy Policy.

Fair Information Practices

In order to be in line with Fair Information Practices we will post an announcement on our site in a timely fashion should a data breach occur. I also agree to the Individual Redress Principle which requires that individuals have the right to legally pursue enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law.

We will notify you of any changes to this privacy policy by posting those changes on this page.

Submission Edits

All submissions will be received in the same manner as postcard secrets (postcard secrets do not get removed or verified). All submissions are final, but requests for edits will be considered for grammatical reasons.
